About the Role

A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a highly skilled Payroll Manager to join our Finance team. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work across both home and office settings, while leading a critical function within the business.

Reporting to the Head of Finance Excellence, you will be responsible for the leadership and end-to-end management of the payroll function across Australia and New Zealand. You will ensure payroll processes are delivered accurately, on time, and in full compliance with all legislative requirements and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end payroll operations across Australia & New Zealand
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards, superannuation and company policies
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to the payroll team
  • Deliver high-quality payroll reporting and insights to key stakeholders
  • Manage payroll audits, reconciliations and data integrity across systems
  • Partner with Finance, People & Culture and senior leaders across the business
  • Drive continuous improvement, system optimisation and process efficiencies
  • Support payroll-related M&A activities including integration and data validation
  • Act as a key escalation point for complex payroll queries

About You

You are an experienced payroll leader with a strong technical skillset and the ability to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

You will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in a payroll leadership role within a medium to large organisation (500+ employees)
  • Proven ability to manage full-function payroll using Aurion or a similar payroll system
  • Strong knowledge of Awards, Fair Work legislation and payroll/superannuation requirements
  • A track record of delivering high levels of customer service across both employee and management payroll queries
  • The ability to work independently and proactively resolve complex issues
  • Experience delivering change, simplification and operational improvements
  • Strong analytical capability with intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)

Desirable:

  • Aurion, Workday or similar HRIS/payroll system experience
  • Tertiary qualification in business, finance, accounting or a related discipline
