PSG is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and execute weekly payroll operations for a growing workforce. This role is responsible for managing high-volume payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and preparing certified payroll reports for applicable projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Process weekly payroll for 8 branches throughout NC & SC that includes 250+ employees with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness
• Review and validate employee time data, wages, deductions, and tax withholdings
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage and government contract requirements
• Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations and payroll-related reporting standards
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in coordination with HR, accounting, and operations teams
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for audit readiness
• Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation and reporting
• Monitor payroll processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy
• Stay current on payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
Qualifications
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll processing, including high-volume payroll environments
• Proven experience managing payroll within a DOT-regulated environment
• Strong knowledge of certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage requirements
• Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience processing multi-state payroll
• Familiarity with payroll audits and compliance reviews
• Experience working in construction, transportation, or government contracting environments
