Job Description

Manage the Human Resources department and assist in the administration of human resources policy, procedures, and practices by functioning as the central contact for information specific to human resources and facilitating or administering the maintenance or implementation of the systems that will ensure associates are treated with dignity, fairly, and consistently. Process payroll biweekly, work with employees, department managers, surveillance and CSMs to maintain accuracy of employee’s timecards. Create off cycle checks as needed for terminations, service awards and payroll corrections.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Onboarding

Conducts onboarding process with each new employee to ensure that all required documents are filled out and signed for the employee’s personal file. Creates a file and a digital file for each employee. Imputes the employee into the payroll data base, and uploads documents to the data base. Create new documents for the onboarding process as required.

Gaming Cards

Start the application process in the NV gaming board website for potential new employees. Directs applicant on how and where to get fingerprints and background check and finalizes the application. Terminates employees on the website as needed. Transfers employees current gaming card to Diamonds Casino. Maintains record of gaming cards for renewals, relocations and audits.

Orientation

Maintain, coordinate and conduct orientations for all new employees to ensure that each employee understands and takes ownership of the company philosophy that will lead us to become the casino of choice.

Training

Maintain training records and facilitate, develop and/or conduct training sessions that provide initial and ongoing training for all associates by working with the management team to ensure departmental training as well as individual training is provided and maintained.

Legal compliance

Understand and use in daily practice the concepts and legal guidelines that guide us as an employer to ensure all persons, whether candidates or employees, are treated ethically, morally, and within the requirements of the law. This includes basic knowledge and practice of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, COBRA, etc., as well as an understanding of how state laws differentiate from federal laws in order to ensure casino compliance. The incumbent will work with the Casino General Manager for all external communications regarding legal compliance and will also work with corporate guidance when necessary.

Maintenance of Personnel Files

Maintain employee personnel files with current compensation, benefit, performance, and mandated information, etc. Provide information to authorized persons, and as necessary, update employee files to document personnel actions, and to provide payroll information.

Employment Coordinator

Coordinates employment practice by acting as the key contact for recruitment purposes, develop relationships within the community to increase the number of quality candidates, coordinates the interview process, processing employment applications, and correlating the job offer process. In addition, the incumbent will work with the management team by leading efforts to improve associate retention.

Benefit administration

Orientates employees and maintains records for use in employee benefits administration and conduct meetings with associates as necessary to ensure all associates, as they become eligible, are familiar with their benefit package. This includes directing employees to our benefits enrollment provider.

Works with the benefits program and corporate headquarters to ensure that every employees’ benefits are correct in their systema and in our payroll data base system. Works with the controller to make sure that the billing from the benefits companies is correct. Work with the employee if they need any help with claims.

Workers Compensation

The Casino Security manager is the contact for employees who need to report a Workers Compensation Injury. The Security Manager will coordinate facility efforts to ensure injured associates receive prompt medical attention. The incumbent, will work with the Security Manager to track attendance issues, reintegration and accommodations that might be needed for the employee for the employee to return to work after a worker’s comp claim.

Payroll Administration

Will process the casino payroll on a biweekly schedule. Responsible for working with department managers, surveillance and CSMs to maintain accuracy of employee’s timecards. All payroll information such as employment data, hours worked, rates of pay, benefit deductions, and all withholdings necessary to accurately process payroll must be input into the payroll data base on a timely basis. The controller approves the payroll, before it is submitted.

Employee Counseling

The incumbent sits in with department managers, as a neutral witness, for employee counselling notices or employee write ups.

Recognition Program

The incumbent is responsible for working with the managers to facilitate our employee recognition program. These include the employee of the month, work anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, thumbs up recognitions and service awards.

Requirements:

Skills and Abilities:

Computer skills to include word, excel, outlook and familiarity with PowerPoint and payroll database applications. The incumbent must have excellent communication, presentation and listening skills.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

Four-year undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management or similar field of study and one or more years employment experience, or equivalent experience in the area of human resources. Experience with FLSA, Title VII issues, and payroll administration is necessary. If the property is a union property the incumbent should have a year experience working in human resources in a union facility.
