The Payroll Financial Analyst ( Level is dependent on years of experience)is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies. The role involves preparing payroll tax filings, payroll tax deposits, benefit funding/contribution reporting, maintaining payroll records, and reconciling payroll related accounts resulting in accurate financial reporting and sound internal controls ensuring data integrity.

This position is located in Bismarck, ND.

Education and/or work experience requirements:

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.
  • Experience:1-4+ years of experience in payroll processing, tax filings, and financial analysis.
  • Skills:Knowledge of applicable payroll laws and regulations.

  • Payroll Software Proficiency Familiarity with payroll systems
  • Financial Analysis Ability to analyze financial data and generate reports.
  • Accounting Knowledge Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excel Expertise Knowledge in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Attention to Detail Ensuring accuracy in payroll processing and financial reporting.
  • Problem-Solving Identifying and resolving discrepancies in payroll data.
  • Communication Clear and effective communication with team members.
  • Confidentiality Handling sensitive payroll information with discretion.
  • Customer Service Providing support and assistance to employees and companies regarding payroll inquiries.
  • Time Management Managing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Prioritization Prioritizing tasks to ensure timely payroll processing and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications:FPC or CPP certification is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing:Ensure accurate and timely processing of federal, state, and local payroll taxes and reporting.
  • Compliance Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Financial Reporting Prepare and analyze payroll-related financial reports.
  • Data Analysis Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Reconciliation Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Process Improvements and Standardization Actively participate in process improvements and standardization of payroll systems and software.
  • Audit Support Provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Data Requests:Respond to non-routine data requests or create ad hoc reports.
  • Research:Research payroll law and apply knowledge to business practices and system set-up.
