Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. The Payroll DPS Senior Supervisor willbe responsiblefordeliveringtimely,accurate, and compliant payrollfor designatedcountries, ensuring adherence to global standards,statutory requirements, internal controls, and service-level commitmentsThis rolewill actas the first level of payroll leadership, accountable for daily execution, team performance, service quality, and compliance.This role will lead and provide guidance to a team of analysts and senior analysts in delivering payroll operations,projects, and/or audits, whilepartnering withthird-partyvendorstomaintainprocesses that support payroll administration

Key Responsibilities 

PayrollOperations & Administration

Manageendtoend payroll processing for assigned countries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local statutory and company requirements

Executepayroll controls, approvals (including offcycle payments), reconciliations, payroll accounting entries, and statutory remittances

Act as an escalation pointfor payroll issues, discrepancies,and employee or stakeholder concerns, ensuring effective resolutionandtimelyresponse

Establish &maintainthe relationship withselectedthird-partyvendors, ensuring adherence toservice level agreementsand operational metrics

Collaboratewithinternal and externalstakeholdersto ensure a consistent andaccurateflow ofdatawithinthe defined payroll processingtimelines

Compliance, Controls & Documentation

Ensure execution of payroll activitiesin accordance withSOXcompliance, business controls,federal, state, local and otherlegislationsor requirements

Leadmonitorauditsbyensuring thatrequested records and evidenceare providedin a timely manner

Ensure regular review andmaintenanceofpayrolloperating procedures, work instruction, and databases

Uphold confidentiality and ensure adherence to data privacy regulations

Continuous Improvement, SystemTesting, Projects

Leadsupportpayroll-related business, statutory, orcompliance drivenprojects, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.

Identifyandimplementinitiativesto improvepayroll accuracy, efficiency, and experience, promoting simplification, automation, and standardization

Lead/oversee analysis of process and system changes.

Ensure completion of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and verification of system changes, releases, and vendor/system upgrades

Collaborate with internalpartners(HR, Finance, IT)andthird-party payroll providers on operational and project-related activities

Leadership & Team Support

Mentor and coachPayrollSenior Analystandjunior teammembers.

Oversee theselection, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.

Support the development of team members’ capabilities, knowledge, and skills.

Promote a positive and inclusive work environment, fostering teamwork, and encouraging professional development.

AssistPayroll Manager/Leadinoperational planning, project execution, and daily operations.

Qualifications 

RequiredQualifications

  • A minimum of5years of prior experience in Payroll,HRand/or Finance operations.

  • A minimum of3years in a Management/People Leader role isrequired

  • Strongknowledgeand understandingof payroll processing conceptsandstatutory payroll requirements

  • Proficiencywith payroll and HR systems (SAP and/or Workday preferred; ADP and other payroll systemsadvantageous).

  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel(pivot tables, lookups, basic macros)and common Microsoft Office tools.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience with case management or ticketing tools.

  • ExcellentEnglish verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solvingand analytical skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • High degree of confidentiality andadherence todata privacyand internal controls.

  • Customer-focused with strong stakeholder management skills.

  • Collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships.

  • Adaptable to multiple cultures and cross-functional interactions.

PreferredQualifications

  • Experience supportingregionalpayroll processes.

  • Experience with timekeeping systems or case management tools.

  • Payroll certifications

  • Experience working withexternalpayroll providers (e.g., ADP,EY, Deloitte)

  • Familiarity with SOX and business control frameworks, desktop procedures, andknowledge-managementpractices.

  • Prior experience in continuous improvement initiatives, automation tools (e.g., Alteryx), or payroll reporting tools.

  • Project Management skills.
