Job Description

Balanced Body is hiring! We're on the hunt for an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join our accounting team and help keep the engine running for the people who make this company move — literally and figuratively.

In this role, you'll own the full payroll cycle for 400+ employees: processing, reconciling, reporting, and jumping in wherever the team needs an extra hand. If you love precision, thrive on process, and get a little thrill from a perfectly reconciled ledger, we want to meet you.

You'll bring sharp attention to detail, rock-solid consistency, and the communication chops to work cross-functionally with HR, leadership, and your fellow accounting pros. We move fast and priorities shift — so comfort with a little healthy chaos is a must. In return, you'll be joining an industry leader that's stable, growing, and genuinely cares about doing right by people and the planet.

What You'll Do

Payroll

  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time for 400+ multi-state employees
  • Process monthly payroll for our international location
  • Audit timecards and partner with leaders on corrections
  • Coordinate payroll software updates and new state setups
  • Keep us compliant with federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Run regular audits, reconcile reports, and untangle complex payroll discrepancies
  • Track leaves of absence and benefit payments
  • Maintain clean, accurate payroll records
  • Field and resolve payroll questions from employees and managers
  • Process manual checks (adjustments, final checks, etc.) as needed
  • Draft commission, incentive, and bonus calculations per company process
  • Keep communication flowing with HR, employees, and managers

Accounting Support

  • Collect and track sales tax exemption documents in Avalara
  • Maintain G/L reconciliations for payroll, benefits, PTO accrual, and other assigned accounts
  • Draft journal entries for payroll-related activity, ready for review and posting
  • Generate and distribute periodic reports for management
  • Pitch in on other duties as they come up

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Payroll Practitioner Certificate a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant payroll experience — manufacturing background? Even better
  • Strong grasp of payroll best practices and employment law
  • Multi-state payroll experience required
  • Proficiency in payroll software (Paylocity a plus) and intermediate/advanced Excel
  • Familiarity with accounting software like Microsoft Dynamics
  • A trustworthy handle on sensitive, confidential information
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • The organizational chops to juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball
