Job Description

At Jonsson Workwear, everything we do is done with precision. It’s how we engineer our workwear and how we run our business, from the factory floor to the financial processes that support it. Because equipping our customers to perform at their peak takes more than precision-built workwear. It takes a business run with accuracy, discipline and consistency.

To support this, we are seeking a Payroll & Compliance Officer to join our manufacturing team in Nhlangano, Eswatini, reporting into the Finance Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely execution of payroll, while ensuring all statutory and regulatory obligations are met in full.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, suited to someone who is detail-oriented and comfortable working within a structured, compliance-driven environment. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of payroll data and ensuring that all legislative requirements are consistently met.

As the Payroll & Compliance Officer based in our manufacturing operation, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Executing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Maintaining payroll records and ensuring employee master data is accurate and up to date
  • Processing payroll inputs including deductions, leave, overtime and other adjustments
  • Reconciling payroll accounts and resolving any payroll-related queries
  • Preparing and submitting all statutory returns, including PAYE, VAT, tax returns, workers’ compensation and other required filings
  • Ensuring all statutory submissions are accurate and completed within required deadlines
  • Maintaining supporting documentation and engaging with relevant authorities on compliance matters
  • Monitoring legislative changes and ensuring payroll and compliance practices remain aligned
  • Supporting month-end payroll reconciliations and reporting requirements
  • Assisting with audit processes and maintaining strong internal controls across payroll and compliance
  • Providing payroll-related reporting and support to the Finance Controller

Skills and qualifications required:

  • Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in payroll administration and statutory compliance
  • Sound understanding of Eswatini payroll legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Experience working within a finance or similar structured environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with exposure to Sage 300 considered advantageous

In line with Jonsson Workwear’s commitment to employment equity, applications from candidates from designated groups, as well as candidates with disabilities, are encouraged.
