Payroll Clerk II
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll for company employees. This position maintains payroll records, verifies employee data, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and assists employees with payroll-related inquiries. The Payroll Clerk works closely with Human Resources, Accounting, and department managers to ensure payroll information is complete and accurate.
Responsibilities
- Process employee payroll on a scheduled basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and verify employee timecards, attendance records, and payroll data.
- Enter and maintain payroll-related information, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, deductions, and garnishments.
- Audit payroll reports and identify discrepancies prior to payroll processing.
- Assist with administration of employee benefits deductions, 401(k) contributions, and other voluntary deductions.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation.
- Respond to employee inquiries.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and assist with reconciliations.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws.
- Assist with payroll audits.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- One to three years of payroll, accounting, or related administrative experience preferred.
- Experience with payroll processing software and timekeeping systems preferred.
- Experience using Dayforce Human Capital Management (HCM) software is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of payroll practices, wage and hour regulations, and payroll tax requirements.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Basic accounting and reconciliation skills preferred.
