Job Description

In this role, you will execute UK Payroll & Benefits processes with a strong understanding of local legislative, tax, and compliance requirements. Emphasis is placed on data integrity, accuracy, and analysis to support key HR and business decisions. You will identify and resolve operational issues, support continuous process improvement, and promote a Best in Class employee experience while working closely with internal HR partners, Finance, and external suppliers.
You will partner with payroll and benefits providers, HR colleagues, and People Operations teams to support employee lifecycle events such as onboarding, changes, leave of absence, benefits administration, and terminations. You will ensure correct payroll inputs and outputs, adherence to internal policies, and compliance with UK employment and payroll regulations.
Knowledge of HCM systems, including Workday, and third party payroll, benefits, Time & Attendance, and data feed platforms is required.

You will partner with payroll and benefits providers, HR colleagues, and People Operations teams to support employee lifecycle events such as onboarding, changes, leave of absence, benefits administration, and terminations. You will ensure correct payroll inputs and outputs, adherence to internal policies, and compliance with UK employment and payroll regulations.

Knowledge of HCM systems, including Workday, and third‑party payroll, benefits, Time & Attendance, and data‑feed platforms is required.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the quality delivery of UK Payroll & Benefits operations and service to the business:

  • Respond to and manage Payroll & Benefits queries via the ticketing system from GE HealthCare colleagues, managers, and HR partners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Accurately administer end‑to‑end UK payroll processes, including monthly payroll inputs, validation, and post‑payroll checks.
  • Maintain high quality of work in line with agreed service delivery metrics and SLAs.
  • Manage HR Operations activities related to payroll and benefits, including employee data maintenance, lifecycle transactions, and statutory reporting.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records by collecting and validating employee data such as personal details, contractual terms, compensation, and benefits.
  • Apply sound judgment and make decisions within defined policies and procedures, escalating exceptions as needed.
  • Partner with payroll vendors to ensure accurate processing, adherence to payroll calendars, and timely issue resolution.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, and controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly and annual payments, including PAYE, NIC, pension, and statutory deductions.
  • Support annual activities such as P60s, P11Ds, and statutory reporting.
  • Maintain and update local HR portal content to support employee self‑service, ensuring information remains accurate and compliant with UK legislation.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to clearly explain payroll and benefits information to non‑experts.
  • Solid understanding of UK payroll, employment law, employment tax, and benefits administration.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review payroll data, identify discrepancies, and provide insights.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in payroll review and documentation.
  • Adaptability and willingness to work in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Workday experience is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) is a plus, particularly for documentation, analysis, and communication efficiency.

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Ensure payroll and benefits compliance in line with UK legislation and internal policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and benefits processes and contribute to best practices across People Operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Payroll and/or HR Operations.
  • Education level comparable to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with UK payroll processing, employment tax, and benefits management.
