About the Role
As our Payroll and Workforce Lead, you'll play a key role in ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and with exceptional attention to detail, while also helping strengthen workforce planning and rostering practices across the organisation.
Supporting a workforce of almost 500 employees across multiple locations, you'll work within a complex payroll environment governed by the RSPCA Queensland Enterprise Agreement and six Modern Awards. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys navigating complexity, ensuring compliance and partnering with leaders to deliver best-practice workforce outcomes.
Working closely with managers and leaders, you'll champion best-practice use of Employment Hero's rostering and time and attendance tools, helping teams improve workforce visibility, roster accuracy and operational decision-making. You'll be a trusted source of advice and support, helping managers navigate workforce challenges while ensuring payroll and workforce data remains reliable, compliant and fit for purpose.
Alongside supporting payroll operations and reporting, you'll identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working, helping drive greater efficiency and consistency across the organisation. You'll also act as the primary backup to the Payroll Manager, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional looking to broaden their impact and influence while contributing to a purpose-driven organisation.
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for a knowledgeable, proactive and highly detail-oriented payroll professional who combines strong technical expertise with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
You are naturally analytical, organised and thorough, with a genuine commitment to accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement. You take pride in getting the details right, enjoy solving complex problems and remain calm and methodical when managing competing priorities.
You are a confident communicator and trusted advisor who can build strong relationships across all levels of an organisation. Approachable, collaborative and customer-focused, you enjoy supporting and coaching managers, helping them navigate payroll, rostering and workforce-related matters with confidence.
Curious and forward-thinking, you're always looking for opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes and help teams work more effectively.
