We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll and Recruitment Officer to join our dynamic and collaborative Human Resources (HR) team.

Working collaboratively across the Human Resources Branch, you will provide advice to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on payroll and employment matters. This is a flexible role primarily supporting payroll functions in the Operational Services team, however the occupant may be required to provide recruitment surge capacity within our Employee Experience team.

In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll and employment transactions, and ensuring all processes align with relevant legislation, awards, and departmental policies. You may also be required to support end-to-end recruitment activities. You will work within a deadline-driven environment where accuracy, attention to detail, and sound judgement are critical.

Your strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and commitment to delivering client-focused outcomes will be essential to success. You will also contribute to continuous improvement through participation in branch projects, procedural development, and workforce reporting activities.

About You

You will have a solid understanding of payroll and recruitment practices within the context of HR management. Your strong interpersonal skills will support you to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders across Treasury. As Treasury is a small agency, you will be exposed to a broad mix of operational tasks that support HR’s deliverables.

Your attention to detail and organisational skills are strengths which support you to meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience using payroll software such as Chris21 and exposure to interpreting legislation will be highly regarded.

About the Branch

The Human Resources Branch develops and embeds contemporary people and culture practices and provides payroll and recruitment services for Treasury. HR provides high-level consultancy advice on complex strategic HR issues and partners with stakeholders to deliver a responsive, high quality and seamless service.

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 - hours flexible - talk to us about how this could work for you. We are open to considering a range of flexible work options including part time hours.
