About Us
The racing world is not just exciting; it brings communities together across the state. Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is at the centre of this world, with more than 24,000 people choosing to join us in our mission to forge a sustainable future for racing in WA.
As the Principal Racing Authority for thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing in Western Australia, RWWA also operates the TAB, with over 300 off-course retail outlets, a call centre, and a growing online presence.
We are currently seeking a Payroll and Administrator Officer to join our team on a 14-month maximum term contract, covering a period of parental leave and allowing additional time to support a smooth and comprehensive handover.
About the Role
As a Payroll and Administration Officer at RWWA, you will play a key role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time - a fundamental part of supporting our organisation’s operations. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll administration, supporting both salaried and casual staff across the organisation. You’ll manage employee lifecycle data in the payroll system, ensure award and enterprise agreement compliance, and support a range of reporting, reconciliation and audit functions.
While your primary focus will be on payroll, you may also be required to support broader People and Capability team functions during periods of leave or peak demand. This includes assisting with the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) by responding to first-level queries, supporting onboarding activities, and maintaining data integrity to ensure continuity of service across the team.
Key elements of the role include:
Payroll Processing Accurate and timely input and calculation of payroll data, including commencements, terminations, leave, back pays, and salary increments.
Award & Legislative Compliance Ensure all payroll activities align with internal policies, modern awards, enterprise agreements, and ATO/superannuation legislation.
Reporting & Reconciliations Assist with internal and external reporting, including year-end reconciliations, ATO submissions, and superannuation payments.
Systems & HRIS Support Maintain and update HRIS and payroll system records, support employee onboarding, and troubleshoot system issues as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Finance, Procurement and People and Capability team members to ensure data alignment, invoice accuracy, and efficient operations.
About You
We’re looking for a payroll professional who combines technical accuracy with strong organisational and problem-solving skills. You understand the importance of confidentiality, consistency, and communication when handling sensitive employee information. You’re also proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working across systems, processes, and departments.
You’ll also bring:
Proven payroll processing experience, ideally in a medium to large organisation with a mix of salaried and casual employees.
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, taxation, modern awards and enterprise agreement conditions.
Experience with payroll and HRIS platforms, and the confidence to troubleshoot, enter and audit complex data across systems.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas, filters, and VLOOKUPs.
Sound understanding of employment lifecycle processes, including new starter onboarding, leave management and terminations.
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and compliance.
Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly to employees and managers.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team.
Experience with Preceda is desirable
