
One of Malta's leading professional organisations is looking for a motivated Payroll and Accounts Officer to join their team. This role offers the chance to build a career in finance, gain hands-on experience in payroll and accounting, and receive full support to commence the ACCA qualification within a collaborative and professional environment.
This is a full-time, on-site role offering a competitive salary of up to €23K.
Role & Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounts, ensuring transactions are recorded on time
Reconcile payables, receivables, bank statements, and payroll control accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Organise and maintain invoices, receipts, payroll documentation, and supporting records, both physical and digital
Support client onboarding, including setting up ledger accounts and initial data entry
Manage the full payroll cycle for assigned entities or clients, including salaries, overtime, allowances, bonuses, deductions, leave, and statutory contributions
Process payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, salary amendments, and employee status updates
Prepare payslips, payroll summaries, and routine payroll reports
Liaise with clients to collect payroll inputs such as attendance and leave records
Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts
Identify discrepancies and support corrective action
Prepare and submit VAT returns, corporate income tax returns, and payroll-related statutory submissions, including social security filings
Monitor key filing and payment deadlines
Support external audits by providing financial and payroll documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Education, Skills & Experience
A-Level standard of education (Accounts preferred) or an introductory Diploma in Accounting
Fluency in English both written and spoken
Previous experience to a similar role is a plus
Keen eye for detail
Basic understanding of accounting (debits and credits)
Excellent time management skills with the ability to respect tight deadlines
Open to pursue ACCA qualification
