Summary:
Direct communication with all levels of management and personnel as well as various government agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of payroll processing for Pay groups assigned and reporting along with interaction with all departments for those Pay groups
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all wages, taxes and benefits to employees and agencies of all levels.
- Responds in a timely manner to IRS and state agency inquiries pertaining to payroll taxes and wages.
- Reconcile Quarters and W-2 for all companies.
- Accumulate all data and prepare worker’s comp audit report for all Pay groups.
- Coordinate with H.R. Department for minimum wage increases for both hourly and salaried employees for the state of California.
- Audit the Temp Agency payroll to ensure they are complying with the California wage and hour laws.
- Send monthly reminders to the team on California wage and hour laws.
- Train all new and current managers in the Dayforce system and what is needed for Payroll to be processed accurately.
- Provide Safety team with employee count monthly.
- Assist HR with payroll related requests- mortgage verifications, time and attendance reports, etc.
- Handle all regulatory agency garnishments
- Verify new holiday pay schedule for coming year is correct in Dayforce based on schedule sent from HR team.
- Review entitlement balances at year end to ensure employees have corrected balance.
- Work with Dayforce support on system updates to any configurations changes for Pay groups assigned. Complete all testing in Dayforce for changes.
- Stay current with all state laws that involve payroll compliance
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in accounting or related experience with a high school diploma.
- A minimum of five (5) years related experience in a payroll environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of payroll procedures and payroll taxes relative to federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Excellent verbal, written and administrative skills.
- Bi-lingual a plus (Spanish)
- Thorough and ongoing knowledge of wage and hour developments and updating processes accordingly
- Ability to coach supervisors and above on time keeping procedures related to wage and hour rules
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
- Ceridian Dayforce experience is REQUIRED.
