Our client, a Malta-based financial services organisation regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payments Officer to join its growing operations team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of daily payment operations, managing both fiat and cryptocurrency transaction flows, and supporting the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of the company's payments infrastructure. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Payments Officer will be responsible for transaction processing, reconciliations, banking and PSP relationships, and resolving payment-related issues in a timely and accurate manner.
Process and monitor daily customer deposits and withdrawals across both fiat and cryptocurrency channels.
Ensure the timely execution of payment flows through banking partners, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and blockchain networks.
Maintain banking and payment configurations across internal systems and platforms.
Perform regular reconciliations of payment accounts and transaction records.
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, failed transactions, and settlement-related issues.
Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails to support internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Act as a key contact for banking partners and Payment Service Providers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external payment partners, ensuring prompt resolution of operational matters.
Support the onboarding and integration of new banking and payment service providers.
Work closely with Trading teams to coordinate settlements with liquidity providers before and after trade execution.
Liaise with Compliance and Finance teams regarding transaction queries, reporting requirements, and operational processes.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of payment-related procedures and controls.
Participate in initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, scalability, and service reliability.
Stay informed of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends within payments and digital assets.
1–3 years of experience in payments, operations, financial services, fintech, gaming, or cryptocurrency-related environments.
Good understanding of payment processing, banking operations, PSPs, and reconciliation processes.
Exposure to cryptocurrency transactions or digital assets would be considered an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Comfortable using operational and reconciliation systems and tools.
Proactive, organised, and committed to accuracy and continuous improvement.
Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required.
