Job Description

About the Business

LexisNexis Special Services Inc. (LNSSI) was founded to help government agencies create actionable intelligence and deliver data-driven decisions. We are committed to innovation and continue to bring new solutions to our government partners to solve some of the most pressing challenges facing our nation.

About the Team

The Controlled Investigation Unit delivers specialized analytical services directly to government customers across sensitive Defense, Intelligence, and Federal Law Enforcement missions. The team brings together expertise in pattern analysis, device geolocation, data science, and related investigative disciplines to support complex operational requirements.

About the Role

As a Pattern Analyst in LNSSI, you will serve as a trusted analytical partner to operational customers and government leadership, applying advanced analytical methodologies to complex data and evolving mission requirements. LNSSI Pattern Analysis uniquely adapts law enforcement crime series analysis and mobile device geolocation investigative techniques to identify spatial, temporal, and behavioral patterns associated with nefarious activity across counterterrorism, trafficking interdiction, threat mitigation, and national security missions.

The role requires initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail, along with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. Pattern Analysts translate complex data into actionable findings that support operational decision-making, threat identification, force protection, criminal investigations, and other mission objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze diverse and complex data sources to identify spatial, temporal, behavioral, and other patterns, relationships, trends, anomalies, and indicators of criminal or nefarious activity.
  • Transform, develop, and analyze raw and structured data to generate timely and actionable findings for operational missions.
  • Apply analytical methodologies, investigative techniques, and specialized tools to identify previously unknown actors, activities, relationships, and patterns in support of threat identification, interdiction, force protection, criminal investigations, and prosecution.
  • Develop and deliver tailored analytical products using charts, maps, timelines, visualizations, infographics, written assessments, and briefings to support operational decision-making.
  • Work directly with operational customers and government leadership to understand mission requirements, refine analytical approaches, communicate findings, and provide analytic reach-back support.
  • Independently develop and execute analytical approaches to complex, ambiguous, and time-sensitive problems while collaborating with team members and managing shifting priorities.
  • Leverage commercial, proprietary, and customer-specific software, tools, techniques, and data sources to develop effective solutions, including when available tools or data are limited.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in technical areas relevant to customer missions and apply that expertise to analysis, methodology development, briefings, training, and consultation.
  • Prepare and deliver customer and command-level briefings, technical presentations, training, and analytical consultation as required.
  • Collaborate with analysts, technical teams, operational personnel, and senior leadership to develop multidisciplinary solutions and support mission objectives.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships by providing guidance on analytical best practices, methodologies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Contribute to team knowledge and capability development through peer mentoring, cross-training, methodology development, and knowledge sharing.
  • As needed, support customer engagement and business development activities through capability demonstrations and development of customized solutions.

Requirements
