Rockhurst University Department of Safety and Security is a growing and progressive agency that is seeking a full-time Sergeant in the Uniformed Patrol Division. Rockhurst Department of Safety and Security Sergeants carry a Class A Private Officers License and are classified as Patrol Agents under Title 17 and Chapter 84 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. This is defined as an armed uniformed officer with the ability to arrest, detain, deter or prevent crime by implementing various law enforcement methods.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide law enforcement and public safety to the community to include the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, patrol activity, accident investigation, resolution of domestic and other disturbances, and prosecution support. All assignments require tactful and respectful treatment of the public, conscientious, and efficient performance of duties. This is a supervisory position responsible for supervising the patrol of a specified area, as well as performing security officer duties, for the purpose of maintaining law and order and protecting life, property and Rockhurst University policies. Supervises, coaches, and counsels direct reports toward the maximum performance of assigned duties and departmental objectives.
Work is reviewed by the Chief of Security through observation, inspection, and through both oral and written reports.
Qualifications:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the incumbent must have seven to ten years' experience as a supervisor in law enforcement or public safety environment, 120 hours of accredited college coursework or Bachelors degree equivalent years of related experience and education combined with supervisory responsibility of at least a department or multiple direct reports in a multicultural environment and a high school diploma or GED Certificate.
