Job Description

Position performs activities related to transportation of patients as directed. Provides mail and messenger services, transports patients and delivers films and reports from department to department.

• Patient Care
  • Proficiency in delivery of patients, films, reports etc from department to department.
  • Accountable and responsible for verification of proper patient identification before transporting a patient to the radiology department for testing.
  • Follows proper protocol for filing and copying of films.
  • Assist in radiology front office / reception work.

  • Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload.
  • Completes work in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Shares responsibility for organizing supplies, tracking, stocking and storing equipment and keeping the department clean. Maintains a calm demeanor during busy or crisis situations. Asks for guidance or help when necessary.

  • Actively participates in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communication.
  • Practice is guided by knowledge of and adherence to current policies and procedures as well as standards of care.
  • Uses policy and procedure manuals and other reference material to ensure proper course of action.
• Quality Improvement
  • Identifies, proposes solutions and assists in implementation of ideas for improvement in patient care and departmental / hospital operations.
  • Participates in the successful implementation of change. Identifies opportunities and implements strategies to decrease waste in supplies and equipment. Assist in evaluation of new procedures, reagents and equipment.

• Special Skills
  • Must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations.
  • Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities.
  • Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers,community individuals and volunteers. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
• Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
• Preferred Requirements

  • Experience: Two years clinical experience, preferably in hospital radiology setting.
