Job Objective:
Transports patients in all departments of the hospital, assisting with patient care and procedures. Education:
Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree
Licensure/Certification:
Required: American Heart Association BLS
Experience:

Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations, Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Knowledge of good body mechanics moving, lifting and transporting patients
Essential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations.
2. Practices hospital approved patient identifications procedures.
3. Communicates pertinent information and unfinished tasks to co-workers prior to breaks, lunches and end of shift to ensure continuity of workflow.
4. Provides safe and efficient transfer of patients.
5. Provides safe patient environment at all times; stays with patients who may be in danger of falling and hurting themselves, correctly identifies patient by use of armband.
6. Transports patients in a safe/comfortable manner to and from department / floors when necessary, reporting any changes that may occur during transport (SBAR).
7. Assists clinical staff with patient procedures as assigned.
8. Assists clinical staff with moving patients when necessary.
9. Notifies patient's Registered Nurse (RN) prior to transport and upon return.
10. Notifies RN if patient needs taken off or put on monitor during ED transport.
11. Operates patient support equipment, including oxygen tanks (E tanks), Hovermats, and ergo-slide.
12. Maintains, sanitizes gurneys and keeps them stocked.
13. Assists with Lab specimens when needed; routinely transports specimens from surgery to Lab.
14. Escorts visitors, patient’s families to waiting areas, cafeteria, etc..
15. Performs dispatch duties as needed.
16. Stocks O2/E tanks throughout the hospital.
17. Provides patient observation at the discretion of a RN and communicates observations of patient condition changes to RN.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
