As a Patient Transportation Aide, you willbe responsibleforthetimely,comfortableandaccuratetransference of patients, medicalequipment,and other related items.In thisposition, you play a critical role in ensuring patients have access to the attention and treatment they need, offering a unique opportunity to make a difference in their lives every day.You can alsobenefitfrom thenumerousprofessional and educational development resourcesprovidedby the Cleveland Clinic system.

Acaregiver in this position worksevenings from12:30PM – 9:00PM and 2:30PM – 11:00PM, including every other weekend and holiday.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Transportpatients and theirpersonal propertyusing wheelchairs,cartsand beds through the admission,dischargeand transfer procedures.

• Transport patients withwithout IVs and oxygen to and fromPhysicalTherapy,OccupationalTherapy,Radiology,RadiationOncology,Physiologyand other departments, including themorgueas necessary.

• Clean,sanitizeand accountfor transportation equipment, wheelchairsandpatientcartsand storein designated areas.

• Provide wheelchairs for ACC,otherareasand visitors, restock portable oxygentanksand respond to all transport requests with a sense of urgency.

• Activate andcompletetasks at the start or end location via phone system.

• Notifynursingcaregivers, clinicians,techniciansor reception upon arrivalof the patient

• Complete required logs and forms,including Critical Information.

• Verifycorrect patient identification throughappropriate means(i.e.armband, chart, pager, DOB, etc.)for propermode of transportation and standard precautions.

• Assistnursing caregiversinbeddingor movingpatientsfrom bed intowheelchairor ontostretcher

• Consult with nursingcaregiversbefore lifting and transferringpatientsandobtainassistancewhen necessary.

• Complete transportsquickly andefficiently andnotifydispatcherswhen assignments areinitiated,completedor when delays/cancellations areencountered

• Understand and applyknowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection controlpracticesand proper body mechanics for lifting and moving patients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• HighSchoolDiploma or GED

• Demonstrated interestandaptitude

• Expressedgenuine concern and care for patient welfare

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and transfer patients requiring much assistance with minimal help.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
