Job Description
Job Purpose: To act as a senior operational resource within the morgue by handling complex cases, coordinating specialized procedures, and supporting service continuity. The role ensures proper documentation, policy compliance, and respectful handling of deceased bodies, while providing guidance to junior staff and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as required.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Perform morgue operations with minimal supervision and act as the senior front-line resource for operational issues.
- Participate in 24-hour service coverage as required in accordance with departmental operational needs.
- Manage complex morgue cases and service exceptions within assigned authority.
- Oversee the receiving, handling, storage, and documentation of deceased bodies in accordance with approved hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure washing and preparation of deceased Muslim patients, including infected cases, are conducted in full compliance with Infection Prevention and Control and cultural requirements.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity of morgue records, logs, and documentation.
- Coordinate with Forensic Medicine at Al-Shumaisi to complete the required legal and administrative procedures related to embalming and repatriation (air transportation) of deceased bodies, in accordance with approved regulations and in coordination with relevant authorities.
- Coordinate operationally with hospital units, Security, Infection Control, and other stakeholders to ensure service continuity.
- Support routine body release processes and ensure all policy requirements are met before release.
- Provide guidance and on-the-job support to Morgue Officer II and III staff.
- Ensure strict adherence to Infection Prevention and Control requirements and escalate any safety concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and respectful handling at all times.
- Access, view, and use patient/deceased information strictly on a need-to-know basis and solely for legitimate work-related purposes, in accordance with hospital policies and authorized system access.
- Support emergency and disaster response activities and extended service coverage as required.
- Identify recurring issues or risks and escalate to management with recommendations.
- Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
- Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Experience
Minimum or Required:
-Two- years diploma in any Healthcare major with 4 years of experience (In Morgue). OR
-One- year diploma in any Healthcare major with 6 years of experience (In Morgue).
Preferred: Three- years diploma in any Healthcare major. with 2 years of experience (In Morgue).
