Job Description

  • The position is available in St Vincent’s Fitzroy campus
  • Work for one of Australia’s leading hospital groups
  • Fulltime permanent opportunity! 76 hours per fortnight Mon to Friday working on a set roster (Mon to Fri)

About the Role

You will provide crucial clerical support and facilitate patient management for day procedure department. Including admitting patients completing reception duties and delivering exceptional customer service. A key component of the role is ensuring patient confidentiality is always preserved.

  • Create patient records and complete all necessary information accurately and in line with current procedures
  • Admit patients accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high level of customer service by handling patient enquires via telephone and in person, in an efficient, professional, and caring manner
  • Arrange appointments for patients as requested by clinical staff

Classifications for this position will range from HS1 - HS17 ($58,442 - $64,610 per annum pro rata)


Your Contribution

  • Previous administration experience in a health setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of private health fund billing and public health funding
  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Team

You will be a part of the Environmental Services team, which is a large and varied department operating across multiple locations within St Vincent’s Melbourne campus. We have Patients Services Clerks are located at both Fitzroy and Kew.

About The Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
