Boone Memorial Hospital is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to support outpatient clinical operations. This role is vital to creating a positive patient experience while ensuring the day-to-day administrative functions of the clinic run smoothly. Summary
The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for managing administrative and clerical tasks in an outpatient clinical setting. This position coordinates appointments, maintains accurate documentation, and supports providers and staff to facilitate efficient clinic operations and quality patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Professionally assist providers, staff, visitors, and patients
Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone
Register patients according to established protocols
Assist patients with completing forms and insurance documentation
Ensure accuracy of patient demographics and billing information
Inform patients of office procedures and policies
Maintain and manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA
Move patients through appointments as scheduled
Answer and route incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner
Schedule appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and exam room utilization
Prepare daily provider schedules
Obtain outside medical reports as requested
Collect co-pays and payments
Report required statistics and respond to requests for information
Maintain and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
Monitor and maintain office supplies and coordinate equipment or maintenance needs
Ensure the reception area remains clean, neat, and welcoming
Complete other clerical duties as assigned

Effective time management and multitasking abilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy clinical environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
One or more years of customer service or patient registration experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
