Job Description
Patient Service Representative — Dental
About the Role
Are you a Patient Service Representative who loves creating a welcoming first impression and keeping things running behind the scenes? At Thundermist Health Center, you’ll be the friendly face and voice of our Dental department — greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and making sure every visit starts and ends smoothly. You’ll handle registration, answer incoming calls, and keep accurate records so our clinical team can focus on delivering great care. If you’re organized, people-focused, and want your work to support health equity in our community, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Dental Practice Manager, you’ll be the hub of daily operations at the front desk.

• Welcome patients and manage all aspects of check-in and registration.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate dental appointments, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of booking.
• Verify dental insurance coverage and patient copays prior to each visit.
• Enter and maintain patient registration data, encounter billing information, and insurance changes with complete accuracy.
• Prepare patient records ahead of dental visits.
Communication & Collections
• Answer all incoming calls promptly and take complete, accurate messages.
• Collect payments at the time of service.
• Obtain referrals to specialists and schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
• Provide daily productivity and collection reports to the Practice Manager.
What We’re Looking For
You’re someone who brings a warm, professional presence to every interaction — on the phone, at the front desk, and with colleagues across the clinic.
• High school diploma or associate degree.
• Accurate data entry skills and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, including professional telephone etiquette.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis coding, billing procedures, or dental insurance is a plus.
• Candidates who don’t meet every preferred qualification are encouraged to apply.
• A commitment to patient-centered service and Thundermist’s mission of caring for our community.
Schedule & Locations
We are hiring full-time for this position at our South County Thundermist Health Center location. Our Dental clinic operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. You'll be scheduled during normal hours of operation, which may include evenings and occasional unscheduled overtime may occur.
