Summary:
- Help patients understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure sure their orders comply with their nutritional requirements or restrictions.
- Work with the caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies and sensitivities; cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences; or when a patient inquiry about additional selections.
- Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s menu selection in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist dietitians, such as helping monitor patients who cannot eat food through their mouth, are on liquid diets or have a specific calorie count to manage.
- Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, following department procedures.
- Complete all daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in the Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary working environment.
- Attend and participate in department meetings and staff development programs, as appropriate.
- Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
- Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

QualificationsEducation:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. No previous experience required.

Experience:
Six to twelve months' experience in food service industry, knowledge of recipe execution, and understanding of sanitation management preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and operation and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Capacity to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to patients, families and associates of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.
Computer Skills: Aptitude for effectively operating hospital’s admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) system, and other computer-based systems, which manage patient care records.
Reasoning Ability: Capacity to apply common sense and understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
