Summary of Job Duties:

The Clinic Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an integral part of our healthcare team, providing essential support and performing non-licensed tasks under the supervision of Registered Nurses. PCTs assist nurses, PAs, physicians, and the Ortho team with clinic procedures, surgery scheduling, and various administrative and clinic duties. This role is crucial in ensuring the seamless delivery of patient care to our Razorback Clinic patients

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma/GED, successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
• Must have excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to waist height.

Preferred:

• Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
• Patient care experience in acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Collects and documents assessment data and provides patient education
• Assist with patient physicals and lab draws
• Responds to patient questions appropriately and addresses patient concerns.
• Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
• Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments
• Follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines
• Provide medical coverage for UAMS-contracted sporting and racing events
• Assist with administrative duties, including insurance verification/authorization and surgery scheduling

Additional Information:

All new Patient Care Technicians are required to complete 5 weeks of training Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM after being hired.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
