Gain Diverse Clinical Experience in a Fast-Paced, Patient-Focused Environment

Are you looking for an opportunity to build your healthcare skills while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives? As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Observation Unit at Deaconess Gateway, you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional patient care while working alongside a dedicated team of nurses and healthcare professionals.

What You'll Do

As a key member of the care team, you'll provide hands-on support that promotes patient comfort, safety, and positive outcomes. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients with personal care needs such as bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, and linen changes
  • Supporting mobility, repositioning, transfers, and ambulation
  • Monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient observations
  • Recording important patient information accurately in medical records
  • Providing compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families throughout their stay

Every interaction is an opportunity to enhance the patient experience and contribute to high-quality care.

Why You'll Love This Unit

The Observation Unit at the Gateway Campus is a 32-bed department designed to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who require short-term monitoring and care. Because patients typically stay between 8 and 24 hours, team members gain exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses and medical conditions, making this an outstanding environment for learning and professional development.

Highlights of the unit include:

  • Exposure to a broad range of patient conditions, diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • A fast-paced setting that helps build critical thinking, prioritization, and time-management skills
  • Opportunities to work closely with nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Active involvement in coordinating patient care, communicating results, and supporting care transitions
  • Meaningful interactions with patients and families during important decision-making moments
  • A collaborative team environment focused on delivering efficient, patient-centered care

No two days are the same, making this an ideal unit for individuals who enjoy variety, continuous learning, and staying engaged throughout their shift.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking compassionate, adaptable individuals who thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment and are passionate about helping others. If you enjoy teamwork, learning new skills, and making a positive impact on patients every day, you'll be a great fit for this role.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within six months of hire
