Unit Description:
The Observation Unit at Deaconess Midtown is a 23-bed unit with remote telemetry capabilities, dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term care for patients who require further evaluation, treatment and diagnosis. Within an 8–24-hour window, patients are closely monitored as test results guide decisions for admission or discharge.
Our clinical team members are NIH Stroke Scale certified and have the opportunity to care for a wide variety of patient conditions. Our unit is an excellent environment to strengthen critical thinking, clinical judgement, and time management skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Daily multidisciplinary rounds with Case Management, Social Work, Physicians and therapy ensure a collaborative approach to patient care. Observation nurses play a vital role in patient and family communication, helping coordinate results and plan next steps alongside the Deaconess care team.
