Patient Care Technician - Cardiopulmonary Services - 100% Days - Downtown Campus-(26003261)

Under direct supervision, performs specific tasks to assist members of the procedural team (physician, RN, RT) in providing patient care within the downtown campus Adult Cardiovascular Lab, Non-Invasive Cardiopulmonary area, and Bronchoscopy Lab.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling of non-invasive cardiology and pulmonary appointments and testing.

  • Organization and planning of daily workflows through outpatient clinics

  • Assist with Cardiovascular Lab scheduling when needed

  • Answer incoming phone calls as needed

  • Check patients in and out for appointments and testing

  • Manage work queue for MCD cardiology and pulmonary appointments needing scheduled

  • Assists in the management of daily deliveries of stores items to designated areas by putting items away and notifying nursing staff of items on backorder that are not received

  • Performs quality controls on glucometer and maintains supplies to comply with regulatory guidelines. Perform blood glucose testing on patients as delegated.

  • Performs Electrocardiogram (EKG) and Holter Monitor application

  • Assists with checking outdates on supplies as delegated.

  • Assists with completing requisitions and other forms as directed. Can include preventative maintenance monitoring of equipment

  • Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for neatness and cleanliness of the clinics and waiting room areas.

  • Assists with procedural preparation including surgical clipping of appropriate skin areas

  • Sets up and connects noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment to patient

  • Reports pertinent patient information and incidents to person in charge.

  • Assists in answering call lights

  • Transports patients by bed, cart, or wheelchair between designated areas

  • Assists with cleaning duties as delegated.

  • Performs basic CPR as required.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Assumes responsibility for on-going self-learning and maintenance of clinical skills, analyzing own performance and set goals.

Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally, electronically, and in writing with patients, family members and health care staff.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to provide care with regard to patient condition and age.
  • Knowledge of principles of sanitation and health hazards.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, instruments and supplies.
  • Ability to collect patient data and maintain accurate records.
  • Knowledge of keyboarding and computer data entry skills.

Percent of Time 100% Days

Schedule: Monday - Friday (0730-1600)

Qualifications

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant is preferred.
  • Direct patient-care experience.
  • Experience working in a health care environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience providing customer service relations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
