Unit Description:
The Heart Floor at The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway is a 24 bed unit devoted to the care of Cardiovascular Thoracic Medical and Surgical patients. Every room is hard wired for monitoring critical patients if needed. The Heart Floor cares for patient conditions including Myocardial Infarctions, Chest Pain, PTCA’s, Open Heart Surgery, AAA, Carotids, Thoracic, CRRT, etc. There are three levels of Care on the floor identified as Telemetry, Step-Down and Critical Care. The highly specialized Open Heart population stays in the same room from admission through discharge eliminating the need for transfers. This allows them to begin extensive Cardiac Rehabilitation before ever leaving the hospital.
