Job Description

Hours of Job

  • 7 am- 30 hours per week
  • Follow Emergency Staffing Guidelines.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services and other Registered Nursing Staff.
  • Is responsible for assisting in the performance of delegated patient care activities, including activities of daily living and basic procedures, as well as identified competencies required in Emergency Services.
  • Is responsible for performing the clerical and receptionist functions of the work area and other related technical and clinical support activities as directed by the RN.
  • Monitors and records cardiac rhythms observed on cardiorespiratory monitoring equipment and reports abnormal findings to RN staff.
  • Collaborates and interacts positively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care and achieve desired outcomes.
  • May be required to work other shifts/units as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting with patient care.

Requirements

  • Basic clinical skills and clerical skills.
  • Must successfully complete a course in basic ECG rhythm and recognition within 6 months of hire.

Education/Certifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in Medical Assistant Program or successful completion of at least one quarter or semester of clinical work in a health-related program with a grade of C or higher.
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, EMT-B, or STNA preferred, not required.

Experience

  • Required: A minimum of one year’s experience in an appropriate health care setting such as physician office, hospital, or clinic.
  • Preferred: Two or more years’ experience in an appropriate health care setting such as physician office, hospital, or clinic.
