
Per Diem, Days
Assists RN and ORT/scrub in room turnovers before, after, and end of day operative procedures. Organizes instrumentation and disposables for surgical procedure, ensuring all necessary supplies are assembled on the case cart prior to the procedure. Opens sterile supplies, instruments, and disposables, using sterile technique, in accordance with AORN Standards & Recommended Practices. Assist O.R. RN and ORT/scrub after case cleanup (i.e. mopping room, wiping horizontal surfaces, changing linen, discarding trash/used linen,) and stocking rooms, according to established PAR levels. Works in conjunction with RN as to equipment needed for next case. Takes call as needed. Assembles case carts daily, gathers,equipment, instrumentation and disposables from established/handwritten surgeon preference cards/pick lists. Works in conjunction with Sterile Processing Department to ensure instrument trays are available prior to any surgical case. Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Education:
Nursing Assistant Course
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
• Nursing Assistant Certification
• Basic Life Support
Minimum Experience:
Required Training/Education/Experience/Certification:
Minimum one year recent experience in OR materials management and/or SPD in an acute care hospital. Basic knowledge of AORN standards.
Desired Training/Education/Experience/Certification: SPD or ORT certification.
Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Must be independent in role, and autonomous in daily tasks; minimal supervision provided. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
