Position Summary
The role of the Patient Care Technician reports to the Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services and Regulatory Affairs. This position is responsible for providing care to dialysis patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Prepare dialysis equipment for treatment including ensuring all pre-procedure testing is performed prior to patient treatment
- Assist with disinfecting process and storage of dialysis equipment post treatment process
- Obtain patient vital signs, document in the medical record, and report findings to the assigned nurse
- Initiate dialysis treatment within scope of practice and partner with assigned nurse as required
- Monitor patient during treatment ensuring patient is responding appropriately to treatment and notify assigned nurse of any adverse reactions to treatment
- Comply with and enforce all policies and procedures as they pertain to the delivery of care, infection control, and safety
- Collect and label specimens and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the department and ensure supplies are stocked

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Licensure and Certifications: CCHT certification required within 18 months of start of dialysis experience. CPR, required.

Experience: Previous experience in a dialysis clinical setting, preferred.

Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
