Under the direction of a qualified Registered Nurse, performs various patient care activities and related clerical functions that support the clinical operations of the Emergency Department. Provides technical support and participates in unit activities as a team member. Participates in unit, departmental, and organizational improvement activities as assigned. Responsible for review, completion and terminal filing of ED records.

EDUCATION:
Minimum:
• High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
• Post secondary education in a related field.
• Medical Terminology
LICENSE:
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
• Current BLS-provided during week one of hire.
• CPI certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
• One year acute care experience in hospital setting.
• Computer literacy required
Preferred:
• Phlebotomy, EKG, ED Experience, Medical Terminology course
SKILLS:
Minimum:
• Ability to organize, plan and accomplish assignments under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Computer literacy required with word processing
Preferred:
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record, Meditech.
• Excel and spreadsheets.
