As a Patient Care Specialist I at our Newport News, VA location, you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team. This role is directly involved in providing continuous care, supervision, interaction, and structure for patients in a residential recovery setting. You will help ensure patient safety, model appropriate behaviors, and support a therapeutic environment focused on stabilization and long-term recovery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word)
• Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to meet insurance requirements
• Ability to transport patients locally as needed (up to 10% travel; no overnight travel required)
• CPR and MANDT certification (training provided locally and maintained as required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience working in a behavioral health or substance use treatment environment
• Basic knowledge of addiction and the recovery process

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety, wellbeing, and supervision in a structured residential environment
• Serve as a resource for new patients by providing orientation, encouragement, and support
• Participate actively as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team
• Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and positive engagement with patients and teammates
• Act as a role model by practicing de-escalation techniques, active listening, and appropriate boundaries
• Conduct safety checks according to individualized supervision guidelines
• Assist in maintaining facility security and safety in collaboration with teammates
• Document patient observations accurately and in a timely manner
• Support patient transportation needs or coordinate transportation with team members
• Assist with identification and intervention related to AMA risk
• Attend required meetings and complete training as scheduled
• Perform other duties as assigned
