The role:

We are seeking motivated people to undertake the role of Patient Care Orderly (PCO) within the Surgical Services team. This will ideally be a full-time role to assist operations between Monday and Friday with occasional weekend work. A mix of shifts will be available, which will range anything from under 8 hours to 10/12 hr day shifts.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver expectational patient care with kindness, compassion and helpfulness. A strong focus on customer service will also be required. You will be an important contact for our patients and also for our internal staff.

You will work under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) or equivalent and will make a positive contribution to patient care through assistance and support to our Registered Nurses and the department. You will be responsible for cleaning, restocking, moving equipment, general manual support tasks and assisting with the transporting and manual handling of patients safely in each department and throughout the hospital. Please note this can be a physically demanding role. All training will be provided to the successful applicant

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
