The3 South/3 North Intermediate Cardiac Care Unitoffers ahigher level ofmedical servicesthan routine inpatientsupport, yet not to the degree orintensity of critical care.As a Patient Care NurseAssistant (PCNA)on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming,healingand warm environment for patients. This position offers a flexible schedule and the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered byClevelandClinic. Acaregiver in this position worksnights from6:45PM – 7:15AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assistnursing caregivers, promote patientcomfortand carry out nursing orders
Transport patients by wheelchair,bedor stretcher from the department/unit.
Conduct EKG andphlebotomyduties.
Attend topatientand family needs and problems.
Assistpatients with activities of daily living, such as dressing,bathingand hygiene.
Report pertinent informationregardingpatientconditiontoappropriate nursingstaff.
Assistpatients with tray set up and feeding.
Restock supplies daily and order supplies from Central Supply.
Document care provided in the medical record.
Collect and transport specimens.
Provide RNs/LPNs withaccurateandtimelyintake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data, note changes from priormeasurementand communicate accordingly.
Respond to call lights within five minutes or communicate inability to do so.
Report patientneeds toan RN/LPNimmediately
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
HighSchoolDiploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crosswithin new hire period
Nursing students:Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Crossupon hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an approved program forNursingAssistants orprevioushospital training
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)Certification
Six months of experience in an acute care hospital setting
