The Cardiology Stepdown Units (J71, J72, and J73) are specialized cardiovascular telemetry units that provide advanced care for patients recovering from complex cardiac conditions. Together, these fast-paced units comprise 73 beds and care for patients with diagnoses including myocardial infarction, post-cardiac interventions, chronic heart failure, dysrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension. Caregivers in these units play a vital role in monitoring patient progress, managing evolving clinical needs, and supporting recovery through evidence-based cardiovascular care.
The Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) provides compassionate, hands-on patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), supporting a safe and healing environment through skillsvalidatedby training and competency assessments. J71 is a busy 25-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in the care of Cardiology Stepdown and Medical/Surgical patients. This unit offers a collaborative, fast-paced setting dedicated to exceptional patient-centered care.
A caregiver in this position worksnights|7:00pm—7:30am| weekend and holiday rotationrequired
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide orassistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight,assistingpatients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoringdevicesand removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical,mentaland emotional conditions to an RN.
Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
HighSchoolDiploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)
Nursing students:Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
