DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Located at Harborview Medical Center, our specialty clinic assesses and treats patients with routine and complex disorders, conditions and cancers of the ear, nose, throat and related structures of the head and neck.
Our highly-trained surgeons, speech pathologists, nurses and support staff work hard to provide each patient with individualized treatment and information to support the healthiest outcome possible.
We also provide diagnosis and treatment for voice and swallowing conditions, sleep surgery, and complete audiology services, including diagnostic hearing evaluations and advanced hearing aid technology.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and prioritize incoming referrals from multiple sources using their knowledge of each physician’s specialized skill set
Triage incoming referrals to assure the appropriate specialist will be reviewing referrals
Handle intake of each referral requests, ensuring complete information is received and entered into the electronic medical record system in a timely manner
Schedule initial patient appointments either in person or via Telemedicine based on provider and patient preference
Coordinates appointments for the patient at the appropriate facility and assists with urgent insurance authorization or financial assistance
Manage and resolve a high volume of phone inquiries and messages
Review appointment follow-up requirements and expectations with patients Educate them to ensure adequate understanding of the purpose of each appointment and follow-up recommendations
Offer financial assistance to self-pay and underinsured patients. Provide them with the necessary steps to apply for financial counseling
Building provider schedules
Serve as a primary program contact to other departments, patients, providers outside facilities
Other assigned duties
REQUIREMENTS
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty
OR
An equivalent of education/experience
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
