Summary
The Patient Admitting Specialist (PAS) serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare providers, helping create a positive and welcoming experience while ensuring efficient patient registration and scheduling processes. This position is responsible for coordinating administrative and clerical functions, maintaining accurate patient records, verifying insurance and billing information, scheduling appointments, and supporting the delivery of quality patient care.
Essential Functions
As a Patient Admitting Specialist, you will:
- Welcome patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls appropriately.
- Register patients accurately according to established procedures.
- Assist patients with completing registration, insurance, and other required forms.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain provider schedules.
- Coordinate patient flow to ensure appointments run smoothly and efficiently.
- Obtain medical records and reports as requested by healthcare providers.
- Collect co-pays and patient payments.
- Maintain patient records while ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Respond to requests for information in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with mail distribution, office inventory, and clerical support tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask in a busy healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
Preferred

Qualifications
- One (1) year or more of customer service, patient registration, or healthcare office experience.
- Previous experience working in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
