Job Description

The Cashier serves as a frontline representative of the organization for patients seeking information regarding outstanding accounts. This position manages day-to-day cash operations, including the collection of patient payments and processing deposits from multiple clinical areas. The Cashier is responsible for balancing cashier funds daily and maintaining detailed financial records. As a patient-facing role, this position requires a high standard of customer service. The Cashier performs all duties while meeting the quality standards established by University Health and adhering to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent in combination of education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience in accounts receivable, cashiering, or a related field.
  • Ability to enter data at a computer terminal and operate a 10-key calculator.
  • Accounting and mathematical skills necessary to prepare deposit.
  • Knowledge of insurance payer types and explanation of benefits.
  • Strong verbal communication skills required to interact with patients and answer questions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
