Job Description

Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Patient Access Team Lead (Central Scheduling) as a full time job in Nashville, Tennessee.

Shift: Day Shift

This position is responsible for day-to-day supervision of patient admissions, registration and associated activities including patient reception, pre-registration, insurance verification, registration, bed assignment and discharge, as well as performing primary job functions. Maintains a positive public relations image in all patient/visitor, medical staff and interdepartmental communications.

Patient Access Team Lead (Central Scheduling) Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Schedules/Pre-Registers procedures for OR, SDS, PAT, CLI and Ancillary services
  • Liaison between the OR and physician offices for scheduling procedures and ancillary services
  • Enters demographic and insurance information correctly and in a timely manner in both PHS and STAR
  • Willingly assists physicians as needed in an efficient manner.
  • Ensures all messages are verified and returned to the appropriate party within 24 hours.
  • Uses proper telephone and customer service etiquette when communicating with physicians, patients, visitors, internal and external customers Courteously receives, greets and directs patients, visitors and staff as needed.
  • Performs clerical duties in accordance with procedures of assigned department as outlined in Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Utilizes EasyLink to ensure orders are properly processed and filed in the correct folder for retrieval upon registration.
  • Serves as a leader in patient access and effectively represents the department in hospital relationships.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Experience working in patient access or medical records.
  • Previous experience as a Team lead of Supervisor in an Admissions/Registration function
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Functional knowledge of personal computers and basic PC application programs including word processing and spreadsheets; database knowledge a plus.
