Job Description

Providence Tarzana Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support the Main Admitting department. This role is responsible for patient registration, insurance verification, intake processing, and ensuring a positive patient experience from arrival through admission. The ideal candidate will have prior hospital registration experience or experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients during the registration and admission process.
• Accurately collect and verify demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Perform insurance verification and eligibility checks for various healthcare plans.
• Support patient intake and admissions while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with patient transport to various hospital departments as needed.
• Enter patient information into electronic medical record systems.
• Address patient questions and provide exceptional customer service.
• Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.
• Complete administrative duties related to registration, scheduling, and patient documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience in patient registration, patient access, admissions, or a healthcare customer service role.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience verifying insurance coverage and benefits.
• Excellent data entry and administrative skills.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-volume healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct hospital registration experience in Admitting or Emergency Department settings.
• Experience with Epic EMR software.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal, Medicaid, and TriCare insurance plans.
• Experience working in fast-paced hospital or healthcare environments.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
