Job Description

Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Patient Service Representative for Patient Access Services as a full-time job in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Patient Service Representative is the first line of quality service to our patients and our guests. This position serves as the ambassador of service, setting the standard. This position greets customers and subsequently provides the highest level of customer service possible. Performs timely and accurate registrations, scheduling, complete benefit verification, patient education (regarding benefits), scanning, faxing, and appropriate authorizations, and referrals for services.
Patient Service Representative Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processing
  • Schedule surgeries, procedures, pre-admission testing, and follow-up appointments
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, providers, and visitors
  • Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, payors, and hospital departments
  • Maintain accurate records through data entry, scanning, and documentation
  • Support referrals and ensure compliance with hospital policies and confidentiality standards
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 yrs. work experience working in a patient access fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Insurance Verification Experience
  • Healthcare Scheduling Experience
  • Medical Terminology Highly Preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Highly Encouraged to Apply
  • Experience working with managed care health plans
  • Excellent patient registration skills
  • Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette required
  • Solid knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficient computer skills; internet, typing, data entry
  • High School Diploma (Equivalent) or Higher
