As a Patient Access Representative, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families and visitors from the moment they arrive to the time they return home. In this role, you will assist with registration, information gathering, payment collection and insurance verification to help ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
This position supports patients in emergency room settings, inpatient floors and outpatient diagnostic services. This role is a great steppingstone to opportunities within Customer Service and a variety of departments across Cleveland Clinic.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working an evening/night rotation between 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., including a minimum of 48 productive hours per six-week schedule.
Weekend shifts may be 4 or 8 hours, starting after 3:00 p.m. Friday and ending on or after 7:00 a.m. Monday. This role also requires working one holiday and one weekend shift as scheduling dictates.
Caregivers in this role will float between Avon, Lutheran and Fairview locations within Cleveland Clinic.
Please note that if you are selected, you will need to attend a 2 week EPIC training starting on your first day. The training is Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm on-site at Fairview Hospital. You will need to attend all days of this training. Once the training is complete, you will then start work on your assigned schedule/shift. In order to be considered, you will need to acknowledge that you are able to attend the full duration of the training.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
May rotate to different locations/hospitals based on staffing needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma OR GED and two years of experience in a customer-facing role with in person or phone contact
OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience
OR a Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge of medical terminology OR completion of course within year of hire
Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Healthcare experience
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
