As a Patient Access Representative, you will create a welcoming experience by pre-registering and greeting patients in the Emergency Department, verifying information, collecting copays for diagnostic services and pre-registering patients for outpatient care. In this essential role, you will help ensure a seamless patient experience while serving as the first point of contact for patients, families and physicians, with opportunities for career growth across Customer Service and other Cleveland Clinic departments.

A caregiver in this role works nights from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

Please note that if you are selected, you will need to attend a 2 week EPIC training starting on your first day. The training is Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm on-site at Avon Hospital. You will need to attend all days of this training. Once the training is complete, you will then start work on your assigned schedule/shift. In order to be considered, you will need to acknowledge that you are able to attend the full duration of the training.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.

  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.

  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.

  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma OR GED and two years of experience in a customer-facing role with in person or phone contact

  • OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience

  • OR a Bachelor’s Degree

  • Knowledge of medical terminology OR completion of course within year of hire

  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Healthcare experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.

  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.

  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
