THE JOB:

Step into the culinary spotlight as our next Pastry Sous Chef at MGM National Harbor! Take center stage in our premier pastry kitchen, where you will assist in leading, inspiring, and developing an energetic team of pastry cooks dedicated to crafting unforgettable dessert experiences. In this dynamic leadership role, you’ll drive culinary excellence backstage—mastering production, managing scheduling and inventory, and upholding world-class quality standards—while bringing the "WOW" factor to life for our guests with signature showpieces and exquisite sweet creations. THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Train Master Cooks, Cooks, Pantry Workers and Helpers on job responsibilities
  • Ensure requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated area
  • Label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
  • Maintain knowledge, understanding and preparation of base sauces, stocks and soups
  • Ensure food quality is superior and take action to correct any irregularities
  • Communicate with management and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and employees
  • Assist the Executive Chef by controlling purchasing, receiving, purveyor lists and inventory of all kitchen items
  • Prepare and administer kitchen schedule
  • Assist Executive Chef by establishing goals and objectives that focus on profit, product and people

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • High school diploma, GED, or eqivalent
  • Culinary arts associates degree preferred
  • Two years of prior supervisory/management experience
  • Five years prior pastry production experience preferred

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is:

$46,000.00 - $63,200.00

This range represents a good faith estimate of the salary range that MGM reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Employees in this position are eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plans, and time off plans. Specific program offerings vary by eligibility factors such as geographic location, employment status, and union membership.
