Summary
We are seeking a Pastry Chef to join our baking team. Our ideal candidate has an upbeat demeanor, passion for the culinary arts, and some professional training or experience. In this role, you will help make cookies, cakes, breads, and other pastries according to pre-established recipes. Consistency is essential, so you must also follow portioning and decorating guidelines. At the end of each production run, kitchen equipment must be cleaned and sanitized and all ingredients must be properly labeled and stored. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in pursuing a career as a dessert or pastry chef.
Pastry Cook Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate core values of Goodwill Industries by modeling service, ownership, accountability and respect
- Bake pastry items according to standardized recipes
- Decorate pastries in a consistent style
- Follow plating and display standards
- Follow portion standards
- Complete daily production and work as assigned
- Maintain inventory of prepped ingredients
- Properly label and store ingredients
- Keep kitchen area and tools clean during and at the end of shift
- Adhere to ACF and ServSafe Standards

QualificationsPastry Cook Requirements and

Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED certificate a plus
- Completion of a culinary school program or apprenticeship preferred
- Pastry-making experience
- The ability to stand for long periods of time
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- A flexible schedule, especially during the holidays

Dr. Edgar J. Helms, Jr., founded the Goodwill movement in Boston in 1902 based on one simple philosophy: What people really want is "not charity, but a chance"​ to work.

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia was founded in 1975. When James K. Stiff, came to Goodwill of Middle Georgia in 1994, the organization was still very small, employing only 60 individuals. Mr. Stiff saw the need for the services that Goodwill provides in the CSRA and added them in 1996. Since then, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has grown to over 700 individuals on payroll and 14 value retail stores.
