THE POSITION

The Pastry Cook is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the kitchen team including food preparations for the Saddleroom Grill. The role requires a strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards and protocols as this role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. The Pastry Cook will have the ability to put help with menu development as the menu changes every week. This is an opportunity to work with award winning chefs with Michelin star experience with a frequently changing menu.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Daily Baking/Pastry preparation in the Saddleroom Grill
  • Prepare hot plates, cold plates, sauces, pastries, bread, ice cream and other desserts.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of food inventories;
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and sanitation as governed by standards and protocols;
  • Communicate with kitchen staff, cooks, sous chefs, and the executive chef;
  • Follow instructions as directed by supervisors, sous chefs, and the executive chef;
  • Attend any buffets, events when necessary
  • Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices;
  • Assist in all areas of the kitchen as required;
  • Other duties as required.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • 5+ years restaurant or hotel pastry experience required;
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills;
  • High attention to detail and strong ability to maintain an organized kitchen;
  • Vast knowledge of kitchen terminology;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once;
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills.

Certifications

  • Formal Pastry and Baking training is considered an asset;
  • High school diploma is considered an asset.

This position will remain open until suitable candidates are found.
