About the role

The Pastoral Care Coordinator provides pastoral care, leadership and support to clients, their families, team members and pastoral care volunteers. The role supports clients by visiting them in their own homes across the Northern Sydney region.

The role requires access to a car (mileage reimbursed) and is permanent part-time working 2 days per week (15.2 hours pw) based out of our office at St Leonards.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing client/family’s spiritual and emotional needs and developing a spiritual care plan, to ensure their spiritual needs are acknowledged and documented
  • Providing spiritual and emotional support to clients and their families
  • Liaising with relevant religious/spiritual leaders to coordinate provision of spiritual support to clients and their families where appropriate
  • Providing prayerful spiritual/emotional support to team members, and distribute relevant material, articles and books as appropriate
  • Training team member in areas related to pastoral care, including boundaries, grief and loss, faith and hope, and other areas as identified in conjunction with key stakeholders
  • Working with team members to extend their skills in meeting the spiritual needs of clients, including identifying suitable learning and development resources
  • Participating in opportunities such as staff meetings, in-services, expos, and other events with the purpose of providing information about pastoral care opportunities and creating partnerships
  • Regularly meeting with local service managers and team members for the purpose of receiving feedback, identifying need, and reporting back on any changes or developments in the Pastoral Care service

About you

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • Strong understanding and experience of people living at home with life-limiting illness including dementia, the impact on carers, and journeys of grief and bereavement
  • Strong personal and active Christian faith and church involvement
  • Theological /Pastoral Care qualifications and experience
  • Demonstrated capacity to pastorally care for and enhance the wellbeing of those in need
  • Highly developed communication skills including listening, compassion and empathy
  • Experience raising up, leading and supporting a team
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Access to a car, Australian’s driver licence and comprehensive car insurance
